MICAH South Legislative Breakfast - February 19th 2021
Over 95 people joined us at MICAH South Chapter (Dakota County) Breakfast Feb.19th.
We addressed housing and school inequities and the impact of the pandemic, as we prioritize housing that is affordable and resource programs in Dakota County.
Scott Thomas, Educator, District 916 and Dakota County Commissioner Mary Liz Holberg powerfully described the inequities in our educational system and its impact on our children, on our communities, and in creating community services and housing that is affordable.
Lisa Melquist, Dakota County Office of Performance and Analysis, described the impact of COVID-19 on people with limited resources. We discussed the excellent prevention program Dakota County developed and showed this video of people being able to stay in their homes.
A Matrix community family member described the importance of continuum to housing resources; being able to get assistance when they lost their job which helped them to get back on their feet and buy a manufactured home! Tony Schertler Dakota County CDA described the on-going excellent work in developing affordable housing throughout the Dakota community.
