Two Poems by Edward George
Building Bridges
Building bridges
of all inclusive love
Replacing old rotting boards
Of age old withered animosities
With the constructive newness of diversity
Sharing each others differences
Comparing each others likenesses
Conquering no one
Respecting each others space
To me, this is civilization
With love at the center
With hope for the future
How can we go wrong?
Building bridges
Of all inclusive love.
Visions
He can give you a vision on the street
Or in a coliseum
Sitting in a back row seat
He can give you a vision
In a temple
In a church
In a mosque
In a synagogue
And deep in the woods
Sitting on a log
He can give you a vision
In a mansion built on a hill
it is all up to God
If it is in His will
He can give you a vision
In a jail cell
Living in turmoil
Living in hell
There is no place on earth
That God does not speak
For He speaks through the helpless
The homeless and the weak
He can speak to an astronaut
Passing a star
Flying high in the sky
He speaks through the day
In His own way
He speaks through the night
He calms our minds
from all fear and fright
He is a God of many visions
God speaks
For He is a friend of mine
