MICAH NE Chapter Update by Trisha Kauffman
Solid Ground is excited to announce a new homeless prevention program serving suburban Ramsey and Washington Counties.
Using Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) funds from the state, Solid Ground can provide up to 2 months of past due rent funding to help keep families in their housing. Families who are doubled up or cannot sustain their current housing are eligible for rehousing assistance and up to 12 months of rental assistance. HUD definitions of “at risk of homelessness” apply.
For more information, contact Anna Turner, Housing Stabilization Specialist, at aturner@solidgroundmn.org.
Solid Ground will also soon be expanding our successful Homework Starts with Home program into Washington County school districts. For more information, contact Ong Yang, HSWH Program Manager, at oyang@solidgroundmn.org.
Lastly, Solid Ground is seeking to purchase multifamily properties in our service area of Ramsey and Washington Counties. This will allow us to house more families who haven’t been able to find other rental housing, as well as preserve affordable housing for the community for years to come. A bid on a 35-unit property in St. Paul is pending.
