Edward McDonald - Board Member
Edward McDonald was drawn to serve on MICAH’s board because our mission aligns with his lifetime commitment to advocate for a clean, safe, and affordable home for everyone. He embraces the belief that secure and decent housing is the foundation needed by everyone to achieve their best for themselves, their families, and their communities.
He brings over 30 years of professional experience as an executive manager for various non-profit community service organizations, branches of government, private corporations, and associations throughout the country. He specializes in community socioeconomic development and organization management.
Edward earned a Paralegal Certification from the Minnesota Legal Assistance Institute, a bachelor’s degree in Social Development from the University of Minnesota-Duluth, and a Master in Public Administration degree from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. He is a certified community organizer and developer from all the major institutes in the United States.
Since 1997 Edward has owned and operated EMC Consulting Services, which provides capacity-building and technical assistance to nonprofit organizations, and community organizing and development groups. He currently serves as the Director of the East Metro Civic Alliance. He has served as Director of the Council for Minnesotans of African Heritage and the City of Saint Paul’s Office of Affirmative Action, and Administrative Coordinator for the Department of Planning and Economic Development for the City of Saint Paul.
