NorthEast Chapter Report
Until we meet again – Jenny Mason leaving Community Resource Center
We would like to recognize the work of Jenny Mason, who is leaving the Community Resource Center (the CRC) at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, where she was the executive director since September of 2017. She has been a stalwart member of the NorthEast chapter and we will miss her.
She will also be missed by the Center. Under her leadership, the St. Andrew’s Family Shelter in Hugo was opened, providing a second needed shelter for homeless families in Washington County. The CRC staffed and handled referrals for that site, while continuing to refer people to the Hope for the Journey Home shelter run by Guardian Angels Church in Oakdale. She raised the profile of the CRC within the community and was a frequent guest at panels and presentations.
This work is but another step in a career that has had housing and ministry at its center. Jenny spent just over a year at Our Savior’s and just under 7 years at Beacon Interfaith Housing.
In addition to her work at St. Andrew’s, Rev. Jenny is an ordained Evangelical Lutheran Church in America minister.
Janet Urbanowicz of the NorthEast chapter spoke for many of us when she said “We know the time always comes for talented people to move on, but it is difficult to see them go.” Jenny says her new directions may involve greater focus on income inequality and working on a broader level than a single center.
Wherever she ends up, we wish her the best!
